DUI Crash Injures San Joaquin County Deputy

What Happened?
A deputy from the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department was conducting a traffic stop along the south shoulder of Lathrop Road at approximately 6:30 pm. The deputy was issuing a traffic citation while standing next to his patrol motorcycle. A woman was driving her vehicle eastbound along Lathrop Road when she allegedly allowed her car to drift off the roadway and collide with the motorcycle. The impact of the collision caused the motorcycle to hit the deputy, causing him to fall down.
Nature of Injuries
Officials reported that the deputy was hospitalized for his injuries following the incident. An update on his condition has not yet been released.
Accident Investigation
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) performed a sobriety test on the female driver involved in the auto accident. The woman was believed to be driving under the influence (DUI) and was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
