Fatal Napa Motorcycle Accident

On Saturday, March 21, 2020, a deadly Napa motorcycle accident left one person with fatal trauma. The decedent has been identified by Napa County officials as a 57-year-old resident of the city of Santa Rosa. However, authorities have not yet released his name. The accident reportedly involved only one vehicle and did not leave any other people with injuries. The incident is being investigated by California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Crash Information

The crash occurred at about 4:41 p.m. on in a rural area of Napa County on Butts Canyon Road just south of the intersection at Snell Valley Road, around five miles to the east of the community of Middletown. The Santa Rosa man had been driving a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on Butts Canyon. For reasons that officers say they do not currently understand, the motorcycle drove off the road and traveled down an embankment before crashing.

According to CHP, paramedics were dispatched to the accident site and found the motorcyclist had suffered critical injuries. Medics performed CPR in an attempt to save his life. However, he tragically passed away on-scene.

Investigation

As police continue to investigate this crash, investigators have not yet reported any suspected collision factors. Single-vehicle crashes can happen for a variety of reasons and often have more than one cause. Many of these causes are things drivers aren’t able to control, like issues with the road or malfunctioning motorcycle parts.

Furthermore, investigating a collision with no surviving drivers can be very difficult. Because no drivers are able to provide testimony about what happened, police are liable to overlook factors that could be critical to a wrongful death case. In order to ensure that the collision is fully investigated, it’s best to work with an experienced attorney who can privately investigate the incident with your family’s rights as a priority.

Wrongful Death Damages

Fatal accidents are a tragedy and dramatically affect the lives of people who’ve lost a loved one. The grief and pain that people experience following a deadly crash can be devastating and often make it difficult to handle your day-to-day life. Many people experience an intense and even confusing set of emotions such as anger, fear, sadness, anxiety, and more. During this period, the most important thing is to take care of yourself and your loved ones by reaching out for help from your friends, community, and family.

However, many families are unable to focus on grieving because they are faced with serious financial challenges. A sudden death in the household can mean a huge loss of income and/or important services like home repair, cooking, childcare, etc. Furthermore, it can be very expensive to pay for funeral and burial services in order to hold a memorial for your loved one.

However, it is often possible to obtain payment for these damages through wrongful death claims. To learn more about recovering damages after a fatal crash, take a look at this short video:
