Crash In Modesto Intersection Different Types

A Modesto intersection auto accident occurred on the morning of January 17 along Sunrise Avenue and East Orangeburg Avenue. The driver of a Jeep Compass was turning left onto southbound Sunrise Avenue. While doing so, the Jeep driver reportedly entered the path of an oncoming Subaru Outback, resulting in an auto accident. The impact of the collision propelled the Subaru into the metal poles of the roof overhang of Sunrise Market. Crews from the Modesto Fire Department responded to the scene to extricate the Subaru driver out of the vehicle. Medical personnel transported three parties, including both drivers and an infant to local hospitals for treatment of unknown injuries. Officials have not yet released an update regarding the conditions of those injured in the crash.

Types of Intersection Accidents

It is useful to know the types of collisions that are most common to avoid a Modesto intersection auto accident. Since intersections may be comprised of as few as two lanes to as many as six, the type of crash can vary. Among the most prevalent include:

  • Broadside Accidents: Commonly referred to as a T-bone collision, this occurs when the front-end of one vehicle strikes the side of another car. These accidents often happen when one driver fails to yield the right-of-way to another motorist or fails to stop at a traffic light or stop sign.
  • Crashes Involving Cyclists or Pedestrians: An intersection accident can involve not just other cars but cyclists and pedestrians. Drivers sometimes fail to monitor the road for either group. Many of these crashes occur at intersections when vehicles are turning.
  • Rear-End Collisions: This is among the most common type of car accident. It usually occurs when a driver fails to slow down for a stopped vehicle ahead of them. In most cases, these crashes are caused by distracted driving.
  • Sideswipe Crashes: This occurs when one driver veers into an adjacent lane without looking for vehicles in their blind spot. This may be considered reckless driving in some cases.

Intersection Accidents and Driver Error

Intersection accidents often occur as a result of driver error. The common behaviors attributable to these types of car accidents include distracted driving, illegal maneuvers, not clearing the intersection before entering, and more. Those who have suffered injuries in an intersection accident caused by driver negligence may be able to seek compensation for their losses.

Recoverable Damages in a Personal Injury Claim

When an intersection accident results in a serious injury, financial compensation can be pursued through a claim for personal injury. This can provide reimbursement for all necessary and reasonable expenses such as medical bills, time lost from work to recover from an injury, pain and suffering, and more. In some cases, punitive damages may be sought if the accident was caused by the egregious or grossly negligent conduct of another party.
