A minor was hospitalized on November 24 after suffering injuries in a Citrus Heights crosswalk crash. According to the Citrus Heights Police Department, the minor was crossing the street at about 9:00 p.m. at the Greenback Lane intersection with Auburn Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle. Police said the light had not been activated for pedestrians to cross at the time.

Minor Hospitalized With Major Injuries After Citrus Heights Crosswalk Crash

The minor suffered major injuries as a result of the crash with a motor vehicle and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The area around the accident was shut down to traffic for around an hour as an investigation was conducted by Citrus Heights police. Neither speed nor impaired driving are considered factors in the crash.

Injury Accidents Involving Minors

When a minor is injured in an accident caused by a negligent driver, the guardians or parents may file a claim to recover compensation. Recovery of damages can include the following:

  • Medical costs that arise as a result of the accident injury can be claimed. Costs include hospitalization, physicians’ bills, ambulance, surgeries, testing and rehabilitative care. If the injury is ongoing at the time of settlement and has not been resolved, the additional medical expenses can be factored in.
  • Pain and suffering include the physical and emotional aspects for which compensation can be recovered. Many people who are injured in a traffic collision suffer from nightmares, anxiety and other symptoms that require professional treatment. The cost of that treatment can be reimbursed.

Getting Legal Advice Following an Intersection Accident

When a Citrus Heights crosswalk crash occurs, determining who is responsible can be difficult. If you are suing a driver who caused your pedestrian accident injury, you need a lawyer who has experience handling similar claims. It is important to demonstrate negligence at the outset. In order to do this, an investigation is conducted to gather evidence such as:

  • A site examination is conducted at the Citrus Heights crosswalk crash to get a clear picture of how the accident occurred. Evidence at the scene is collected, and roadway damage is photographed.
  • Investigators search the area to locate surveillance cameras at traffic lights and nearby businesses and homes. If the accident was captured on film, it could provide strong evidence in the case to show fault.
  • A review is made of the police report to obtain evidence and ensure its accuracy because mistakes can adversely affect a client’s compensation claim.
  • Accident reconstruction is carried out because it shows how the vehicle was positioned in relation to the pedestrian in the Citrus Heights crosswalk crash.

Once the evidence is gathered, it can be used by our injury lawyers to build a strong case that supports the injured pedestrian’s claim for compensation.
