Interstate 5 Accident Near Q Street Involves Big Rig

An interstate accident involving a big rig occurred on March 15 in Sacramento, causing delays. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) accident report said the collision occurred in the Florin area during the morning along Interstate 5 near Q Street. The accident involved two motor vehicles and a tractor-trailer, causing a backup as far as Natomas

It was reported that one person had to be extricated from their vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries occurred in the collision. An investigation by the CHP is determining fault and what caused the accident.

Big Rig Involvement in an Interstate Accident

Highway accidents involving a big rig can be one of the deadliest on the road. Big rigs, also known as tractor-trailers or 18-wheelers, are significantly larger than other vehicles on the highways and require more time to brake and maneuver when something unexpected occurs. When an accident between a passenger vehicle and a big rig happens, the car’s occupants are at a much greater risk of serious injury or death.

Size and Weight Can Increase Injuries and Risk of Fatalities

Because of the massive size and weight of big rigs, they are more prone to rollover accidents. This type of accident occurs when a truck driver takes a curve too quickly or experiences a shift in their load that causes instability in their vehicle. Rollover accidents often result in serious injuries or fatalities, as well as the closure of the highway.

In addition to rollover accidents, big rigs are also prone to jackknifing. Jackknifing occurs when a trailer swings out too far and forms an angle with the truck’s cab. This type of accident is extremely dangerous due to the fact that big rigs require a large area to maneuver and can easily block traffic or cause a chain reaction of collisions.

The most common type of interstate accident involving a big rig is a rear-end collision. These types of accidents occur when the truck driver fails to slow down in time to avoid hitting the car in front, resulting in serious property damage and sometimes injuries.

Compensation Recovery After an Interstate Accident Involving a Big Rig

When a person is injured in an accident involving a big rig, there are certain steps to take for compensation recovery. The first step is to contact an experienced personal injury attorney specializing in truck accidents. An attorney can provide legal advice on the best course of action and ensure that all your rights are protected. By filing a personal injury claim, the compensation you can recover will depend on factors such as the severity of your injuries, any long-term medical expenses and lost wages.

In addition, an accident attorney can help you negotiate a fair settlement with the insurance company. Finally, if necessary, a civil lawsuit may be filed against the trucking company or its driver. This is sometimes necessary in cases involving serious injury or death.
