Bald Rock Road Intersection Site of Berry Creek Crash With Injuries

Two people were hospitalized after a Berry Creek crash near Oroville on April 18. The accident happened around 5:55 p.m. at the intersection of Bald Rock Road and Sand Creek Drive. It involved a Honda CRV and a heavy-duty truck.

Major Damage Reported in Vehicles Involved in Berry Creek Crash

In addition to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), emergency responders with the Butte County Fire Department were called to the scene. It was reported that the entire roadway was blocked by the collision. Tow trucks were called for the Honda, which exhibited major front-end damage and the truck, which had all-around damage.

Two Patients Transported to Hospitals for Treatment

An air reach helicopter transported one patient to Enloe Medical Center with major trauma after the Berry Creek crash. Another patient was taken to a hospital by ground ambulance. An investigation into the cause of the collision is underway by the CHP traffic collision unit.

Rural Road Dangers

Rural roads often pose dangers that result in accidents with severe injuries. The lack of heavy traffic and reduced police surveillance encourage motorists to engage in risky behaviors, such as speeding or driving under the influence, which they might avoid on busier highways. Additionally, the typically two-lane nature of country roads, such as the one where the Berry Creek crash occurred, requires drivers to overtake slower vehicles, often with a limited view of the oncoming lane, raising the risk of deadly accidents.

The Benefits of Using a Personal Injury Lawyer

When you suffer injuries in a rural road accident, hiring an accident attorney to identify who is at fault can significantly impact whether you can place a personal injury claim to recover compensation. An accident lawyer’s job is to uphold your rights and help you obtain the compensation that you deserve. Once it has been established that the other driver was negligent, the lawyer uses an investigator to collect the evidence needed to uphold your claim.

After using the evidence to build a robust case, the lawyer negotiates on your behalf with the at-fault driver’s insurance company. The insurance company generally settles the claim around 95 percent of the time. If they refuse to settle, the lawyer can take the collected evidence and present it in civil court.

Personal Injury Claim Compensation

Navigating a personal injury claim can be complex, but understanding what compensation is recoverable can provide clarity and direction. Here are key areas where you can seek compensation:

  • Medical expenses: Medical expenses recover your present and future treatments related to your injury.
  • Lost income: This category compensates you for the income you lost while injured.
  • Pain/suffering: You can recover compensation for the physical and emotional distress caused by the injury and accident.
  • Loss of enjoyment: If the injuries prevent you from enjoying day-to-day activities and hobbies, you can recover compensation for it.
  • Punitive damages: In rare cases, punitive damages are awarded to punish the defendant for egregious wrongdoing.
