BART Noise Improvements for Commuters

I’m Ed Smith, a Pittsburg Auto Accident Lawyer. Officials from BART are committing to a plan to reduce the excruciating noise from the train. This plan was formulated to provide relief for commuters in the Bay area.

What Is BART?

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is the San Francisco Bay Area’s system of public transportation. BART connects San Francisco to cities of northern San Mateo County and as far as the East Bay. The mission for BART is to provide fast and easy public transportation without having to deal with the congestion of traffic on the freeway. Over the years, more and more residents have been converting to using BART as their method of transportation in order to avoid traffic and accidents on the highways. For this reason, engineers have set up a plan to make the BART ride for commuters fast and enjoyable.

Why?

Passengers on BART have been making numerous complaints about their commute on the train. Some riders have stated that they are unable to carry on a conversation on the train due to the extremely loud train noise. To some commuters, the train can produce painful sounds at times. Reports state that the sounds coming from the internal component of the Transbay Tube can approach levels exceeding 90 decibels, which is approximately the equivalence of a diesel truck.

How?

Engineers have been conducting tests on how to change the profile of the wheel on the current train. Engineers will be converting the current cylindrical version of the train to an improved tapered design. The improvement can possibly reduce the noise level by half. The project is scheduled to take place in approximately three months. However, the improvement can take about two years to complete for the trains are always scheduled for maintenance.
