Traffic Accident Investigators Determining Cause of Auburn Hit-and-Run Crash

One driver said he thought he had hit something but wasn’t sure whether it was a person. Fire department medics were called to the scene to assess the pedestrian’s injuries. However, no additional information was provided. An investigation of the crash is underway by CHP traffic accident detectives to determine if the driver that struck the pedestrian left the scene and how the collision occurred.

Injury Risks Associated with Pedestrian Accidents

The impact of a vehicle on a pedestrian in an Auburn hit-and-run crash can result in severe injuries, regardless of the size of the vehicle. The driver of a vehicle may end up with a pedestrian on the hood or windshield of its car if the impact speed is high, or the pedestrian may crash into the ground after flying through the air. There are many types of injuries pedestrians can suffer from in an accident, including bruises, fractures, and traumatic brain injuries. Further, pedestrians are more likely to die in accidents when vehicles are traveling at high speed.

Accident Lawyers Handle Pedestrian Injury Cases

Injured pedestrians in an Auburn hit-and-run crash may be able to file a personal injury claim if they consult with an accident lawyer for a free case review. When the lawyer determines the negligent driver’s fault, their investigators gather evidence to support the claim. As a result, the lawyer builds a strong case on behalf of the client to recover compensation as a result of the evidence.

You are usually represented by the injury lawyer in negotiations with the at-fault driver’s insurance company. The lawyer can, however, take the case to civil court if the insurance company doesn’t offer a fair settlement.

Negligent Drivers’ Liability Compensation for Pedestrians

When a negligent driver hits a pedestrian in Auburn, they may wonder how much compensation they can expect. Injured persons can recover economic and noneconomic damages from motorists or other entities. In some cases, punitive damages may be awarded if the driver’s negligence was egregious or if he intentionally struck the walker.

As a result of the injured party’s incapacity to work, the injured party may suffer economic damages, such as medical bills and lost wages. In addition to economic damages, noneconomic damages include pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of enjoyment of life, as the injury prevents the plaintiff from engaging in activities he or she used to enjoy. Contact a local personal injury lawyer today to determine if you might be entitled to compensation.
