LOS BANOS, CA — A 25-year-old woman is facing allegations of driving under the influence after a troubling incident Tuesday night in Merced County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officials say she had been traveling on Ward Road and attempted to park, but accidentally steered her vehicle into the wrong garage, causing serious damage to the structure.

Thankfully, no one was hurt. However, officers at the scene noted signs that she may have been under the influence of alcohol and placed her under arrest on suspicion of DUI.

MERCED COUNTY, CA — A minor-injury crash at the intersection of State Route 165 and State Route 140 created major delays Monday night, the California Highway Patrol’s Merced office reported.

According to CHP, a semi-truck loaded with propane cylinders was in a collision strong enough to separate the big rig’s cab from its trailer, leaving propane cylinders strewn across the roadway.

Emergency fire crews and tow teams arrived quickly, working carefully to secure the area and keep everyone safe.

With debris on the road and recovery work underway, officers put one-way traffic control in place. Drivers traveling in the area were encouraged to be patient, expect slowdowns, and take alternate routes while the scene was being cleared.

CHP also offered a gentle reminder for all motorists: taking a moment to slow down, watch for cross-traffic, and avoid hurried choices at intersections can go a long way toward preventing accidents and protecting everyone on the road.

TRACY, CA – A serious situation unfolded Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 205 in Tracy, where an overturned tanker led to a full closure of both directions of the freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol’s Dublin division, the tanker had been carrying ethanol, a substance that must be carefully offloaded before the vehicle can be safely raised. This added extra time and caution to the recovery efforts.

Tracy police said the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m., just west of the city near the San Joaquin–Alameda county line. Westbound lanes were completely shut down, and drivers were rerouted onto Mountain House Parkway. Farther west, CHP also closed eastbound I-205 at the I-580 split, diverting all traffic onto eastbound I-580 to keep people out of harm’s way.

Authorities said it remained unclear whether anyone had been injured, and they emphasized that safety was their priority as crews worked to stabilize the scene and reopen the roadway.

SONORA, CA – A Sonora man was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI after a single-vehicle crash, where officers also discovered that a child had been riding with him.

According to the CHP, the 43-year-old man was driving westward on Lyons Bald Mountain Road, just east of Apple Valley Road, in a 2025 Subaru Outback when the vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch. When officers arrived, they found that the driver was not alone—an 8-year-old child was seated in the back. Thankfully, both were wearing seatbelts, and although they suffered minor injuries, they were evaluated and treated at the scene.

During their investigation, officers determined that the man had been driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and child abuse, due to the potential risk of serious harm to the young passenger.
