WINTON, CA – A 41-year-old woman lost her life Monday evening following a tragic rollover crash in Winton, after her vehicle left the roadway and entered a canal.
According to California Highway Patrol officials, around 7:44 p.m. the woman was driving westbound on Meadow Drive when her 2002 Ford Ranger drifted onto the dirt shoulder. As she attempted to correct, the vehicle crossed both lanes near West Lane and ultimately came to rest in a dry canal along the south side of the road.
The truck overturned upon impact, and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. It has not yet been determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
