Accidents January 15

OAKDALE, CA — A 29-year-old man from Oakdale lost his life early Wednesday morning following a tragic collision on State Route 108 east of Langworth Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m., when CHP officers responded to reports of a traffic incident. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered the man unresponsive in the roadway, with a Ford pickup truck stopped nearby. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, a 67-year-old man from Modesto, was not injured. Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle was traveling eastbound when the pedestrian entered the roadway and was struck.

Authorities confirmed the driver was not impaired by alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident. It remains unclear whether impairment played a role for the pedestrian.

The investigation is ongoing as officials work to understand the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
