Traffic Accident Kills Young Child in Carmichael

Car Crash Kills Young Child in Carmichael

A traffic fatality was reported on November 14 in Carmichael following a collision that killed a 4-year-old child and caused major injuries to the female driver. The driver, a Fair Oaks woman, was traveling east along Winding Way, close to Dewey Drive, at around 7:20 in the morning when her Subaru crashed into a tree along the shoulder of the road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The collision was so violent that the vehicle was reported as split in two. The woman, described as in her 30s, was seriously injured while the little girl’s injuries were described as life-threatening. The child died at the hospital less than four hours after the crash. The CHP is investigating the Carmichael traffic fatality to determine what happened. It has been reported that the accident may have involved road rage on the part of the other driver who cut the Subaru off.

Additional Details of the Accident

According to police, the driver of the Subaru said she was driving toward her home, and a truck cut her off. This caused her to lose control of her vehicle and go off the road. The child had been riding in a booster seat in the back, while the driver was using her seat belt. Anyone who may have information about the traffic fatality accident is urged to call the North Sacramento CHP office at (916) 348-2300. They can also call (916) 798-0975 to speak to Officer Greg Zumstein.

Loved One Forever Remembered

The 4-year-old girl was the youngest in her family of four. According to her relatives, she was a sweet, lovable girl who was full of life and always ready to strike a pose. Sadly, the family lost this beautiful soul too soon. A GoFundMe page has been established to help the family with medical and funeral expenses in their time of loss and grief.

Losing A Family Member in a Car Accident

Losing a family member can cause overwhelming grief. Losing a child compounds the grief parents have. There are no words that can erase the devastation the family feels at a time like this, especially if someone’s negligence caused it to happen. Friends and other family members want to help, but thinking of what to do is difficult for some. Here are a few things that might be of help to the grieving family:

  • Be there for the family: One of the most important things that can be done is to be there and listen. Your support will give the family a measure of solace.
  • Help with basic chores: Often, the family has little time to take care of basic needs like eating and sleeping. Bringing food to the house and helping with children are two things friends and family can do.
  • Offer to drive: At this time, family members are concentrating on their loss and may not be able to drive themselves about. Offer to take them where they need to go.
  • Pick up things they need: There are certain things that are urgently needed, such as medication. Offer to be on standby to pick up what is needed at the pharmacy or store.
  • Offer to accompany them: Going to a funeral parlor to choose burial items is an extremely hard thing to do. Offer to take the family members and go in with them if they approve.

Paying for Damages in a Hit and Run Accident

When a driver causes a crash and flees the scene, I am often asked who will be responsible for the cost of end-of-life items and other losses the family experiences. We work alongside law enforcement to identify the fleeing driver. If the person is not found, we work with the family to recover damages. One way to do this is to use the family’s uninsured motorist protection if they have it added to their insurance policy. This covers not just someone who has the coverage but any member of the family. The uninsured motorist coverage does not cause an increase of premium but can cover any injuries or wrongful death that resulted from the accident.

What Our Law Firm Can Do

Our firm feels the heartbreak the family is experiencing, especially if a child is involved. We send our investigators to the accident site to look for evidence. Our investigators canvass the area, speak to witnesses, and obtain video footage of the accident from traffic surveillance cameras and nearby businesses. We search for others who come forth beyond the witnesses who know anything about the accident or the driver. Once the evidence is garnered, our investigative team releases it to our lawyers, who use it to build a strong case for our client.
