Sacramento Crash Kills Two Teens
I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento Injury Lawyer. Two teenagers were tragically killed in a motor vehicle collision along Power Inn Road.
Officers from the Sacramento Police Department were flagged down just after 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 following a crash along Power Inn Road and 39th Avenue.
Officers discovered a Ford Ranger pickup truck and a Toyota Camry on the east side of Power Inn Road. Inside the Camry officers found two 17-year-olds trapped.
Sadly, the two teenagers, identified by officials as Perla Espinoza and Danial Lu, were pronounced dead at the accident scene.
What Happened to the Other Driver?
The person driving the pickup truck was identified as 23-year-old, Taylor Spier. She was transported to the hospital and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence shortly thereafter, according to police.
How Did the Vehicles Collide?
Investigators said that the pickup truck was proceeding south along Power Inn Road. As the truck approached 39th Avenue, the Toyota Camry pulled out into the lanes from the west, maybe from a driveway, police said.
The Toyota Camry, with the two teens inside, was broadsided on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
What Caused the Crash?
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Investigators speculated that speed could have been a factor.
When an accident causes fatalities it makes it difficult to get a full picture of the sequence of events leading up to a crash.
