Oroville Car Accident 4 25 17 Causes Man Death

Reports from the Yuba-Sutter California Highway Patrol (CHP) state that a fatal vehicle accident took place south of Yuba City on Monday, December 17, 2018. The accident involved two passenger vehicles and reportedly left a 55-year-old man from Berry Creek with severe injuries that eventually cost him his life. The Berry Creek man has not yet been identified by authorities of the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department pending his family’s notification. The collision also left a 37-year-old woman from Oroville with moderate injuries. Authorities say that they are still looking into what may have caused this fatal accident to take place.

Crash Information

CHP’s reports indicate that the Berry Creek man had been driving a 2004 Chevrolet southbound on Highway 99 to the north of Riego Road at around 12:15 a.m. For reasons not currently known, the Chevrolet drifted off of the highway and onto the dirt shoulder. The vehicle continued a short distance before eventually striking a roadside call box. The impact with the call box sent the Chevrolet veering back into the highway. The Chevrolet then crossed over the median and entered the path of a northbound 2015 Volkswagen driven by the Oroville woman. The Volkswagen struck the right-hand side of the Chevrolet and both vehicles came to a stop on the eastern roadway shoulder.

Injuries

According to emergency response officials who were at the accident scene, the Chevy driver was discovered with major trauma. Sadly, the man could not recover from his injuries and was declared deceased on-site. The Oroville woman suffered significant injuries and was taken by ambulance to the UC Davis Medical center in Sacramento so she could receive treatment. Updates on her condition have not been made available.

Wrongful Death Damages

The majority of vehicle accidents are caused by a negligent party. This party can be a reckless driver, the manufacturer of a dangerous vehicle product, a government entity responsible for keeping roads safe, or another person or group of people whose negligence caused the accident. Those who’ve lost a loved one in a fatal crash can often hold these people responsible for the damage they have caused and can recover money for lost income, medical expenses, funeral costs, and more. However, every case is different and it’s important to speak with a qualified Oroville wrongful death lawyer before you take any action.
