motorcyclist killed sacramento norwood hit and run

I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento Motorcycle Accident Attorney. On the night of Wednesday, August 9 a motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run accident at the off-ramp to Interstate 80 at Norwood Avenue. The Sacramento Police Department is seeking help from the public in identifying the motorist who fled the accident scene.

The Details of the Accident

According to investigators, police officers were dispatched to the report of an accident with injuries involving a motorcycle at 10:26 pm. When police arrived on scene they discovered an injured motorcyclist lying in the road near his bike. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he died from his traumatic injuries. The victim was identified as Shane Beachell, 42, by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Beachell  who passed away in this tragic accident.

Police Reach Information

In a release from the police regarding the motorcycle accident, investigators said that Beachell was traveling southbound on his bike along Norwood Avenue. Police said the motorcyclist was splitting lanes as it entered the intersection near the bottom of the off-ramp allegedly against a red stop light. Officers said that the bike slammed into the driver’s side of a BMW as it was exiting the highway approaching Norwood Avenue. The BMW had the green light and was reportedly making a northbound turn onto Norwood.

The report from the police claims that the BMW stopped for a moment, but then left the scene at a high rate of speed. The driver of the BMW never exited the vehicle. It is believed that the BMW is either a 3 or 5 Series. Police want the public to know that there might have been more than just one occupant in the vehicle and that it likely has damage on the driver’s side.

The Sacramento Police Department is requesting that anyone who might know the driver or who has seen the vehicle to please contact them immediately. All tips can be left anonymously.
