Folsom: California International Marathon
We love Folsom, California. It’s a great place to live, work, play and run. It’s not just home to the Folsom State Prison anymore. This weekend it hosts the California International Marathon. The photo insert is how our Folsom skies looked today.
Are You Ready to run?
I’m Ed Smith, a Folsom personal injury lawyer. We hope the weather cooperates because we are only hours away from the marathon start time. Last year over 9000 marathon runners participated. The race is slated to bring thousands of participants to a Folsom: California International Marathon start line. Auburn-Folsom Road is where it will all begin on Sunday, December 6, 2015.
Marathon Start Time
The 2015 California International Marathon will start at 7:00 a.m. at Folsom Dam. The run is 26.4 miles in length. There will be lots of live coverage from news outlets and social media platforms. We’ve learned there will be no shortage of restrooms.
600 Porta Potty Units
The organizers of the marathon have gone above the call of duty when it comes to porta potty placement. There are 300 at the start line alone. Another 300 will be sprinkled all throughout the course of the marathon. From Auburn-Folsom Road to the State Capitol there will always be a blue compartment to do your business.
Impact on Traffic and Road Closures
If running isn’t your thing, we understand completely. Keep in mind you may run into traffic issues. Just remember, this race begins at Auburn-Folsom Road (near the dam) on Sunday morning. The race will end at the State Capitol some time later. Race organizers indicate that there will be rolling street closures. These closures may temporarily disrupt your normal schedule. Use extra precaution and leave yourself plenty of time to get to your desired destinations. Auto accidents involving pedestrians are what you want to avoid.
Watch Out for Pedestrian and Bicyclists
What does a pedestrian have to protect themselves from an impact with car? We can’t think of anything. This marathon will host thousands of runners and their guests. Observe all the orange cones and detour signs placed along the race route. Pedestrians (including children) and bicyclists will be everywhere. Be sure to scan the roadways at all times. Pedestrian injuries and bicycle accident injuries can be catastrophic in nature. Drive your vehicle using extreme caution.
