Accident Injures Four at Tracy Nail Salon

I’m Ed Smith, a Tracy personal injury attorney. Four parties suffered injuries after an SUV crashed through a nail salon in Tracy recently. The accident occurred at 12:07 in the afternoon at the Top Ten Nails Salon & Spa along Pavillion Parkway near Grant Line Road. A driver of a Honda Pilot SUV appeared to have been attempting to park in a designated handicap space when their vehicle allegedly drove over the curb, collided with a parking sign and crashed through the salon. Approximately twenty people were inside the salon at the time of the collision. Sadly, four people had to be taken to area hospitals for treatment of traumatic injuries.

Accident Investigation

The cause of the accident is under investigation by local authorities. Photographs taken at the scene suggested that the vehicle caused several chairs inside the salon to be scattered throughout the facility. Officials reported that it is not yet known whether the injured individuals were struck directly by the vehicle or by chairs or debris thrown into them.

Personal Injury

A personal injury is generally one where damage is caused to a person’s body, mind or emotions. This does not include property damage. The two components that must be proven in order for compensation to be awarded are liability and damages. Liability refers to one’s legal responsibility to exercise due care while damages are described in terms of financial loss.

Financial Losses in a Personal Injury Lawsuit

In California, a personal injury lawsuit must be filed within the statute of limitations, which is typically two years from the date of injury. Financial losses in these lawsuits are divided into two sections, economic and non-economic losses. Economic losses can be calculated on a balance sheet and include lost wages, medical costs, and future expenses. Non-economic damages are comprised of components such as pain and suffering and vary from case to case. Contact an attorney for more information.
