Woman Seriously Injured in Redding Area Crash

I’m Ed Smith, a Redding personal injury lawyer. A woman reportedly suffered serious injuries after being involved in a motor vehicle collision on Saturday, March 31, 2018. Authorities indicated that one other individual was also injured during the crash.

We hope and pray for a speedy and full recovery for the two parties that suffered severe harm in this tragic accident.

Collision Information

Authorities from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a report indicating that a single vehicle collision occurred along Deschutes Road in the vicinity of Meyer Road near Bella Vista shortly before 8:00 p.m. CHP officers indicated that a woman in her twenties had been traveling on Deschutes Road when her vehicle allegedly veered off of the roadway for unknown reasons. After the woman’s vehicle left the roadway, it collided with a nearby tree. The impact of the collision reportedly caused the vehicle to overturn, ejecting the driver in the process. The collision was initially reported by a passing driver who discovered the wreck and immediately notified authorities.

Injuries

The driver of the vehicle suffered major injuries and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital to receive emergency care. The specific nature of the woman’s injuries were not reported and updates on her condition have not yet been made available. The vehicle’s passenger was found with minor abrasions and complained of pain. The woman was taken by a separate ambulance to the hospital for treatment.

Investigation

CHP is investigating this accident in order to understand the causal factors that were involved. Officers have not yet stated whether drugs and/or alcohol played a part in this collision.

Phantom Vehicles and Personal Injury Claims

A “Phantom Vehicle” is a term used to reference an unidentified car that caused an accident without ever making physical contact with other vehicle(s) involved. Phantom vehicles can sometimes be determined to have been involved in accidents by physical evidence such as roadway skid marks. Other times, phantom vehicles are reported by witnesses who may or may not have been involved in the accident. In phantom vehicle accidents, injured individuals may often be unable to hold a negligent driver responsible for their actions and have limited resources for resulting damages. However, an injured party may often be able to claim compensation for their losses if they are a policyholder of uninsured/under-insured motorist coverage (UM). This type of protection is not required by California state law but it is beneficial to those who carry it. Filing a claim against a UM policy may be extremely difficult and stressful without the assistance of an experienced Redding personal injury lawyer. An experienced attorney can help you in obtaining fair restitution for all incurred losses.
