Vallejo Man Dies in Auto Accident

I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo wrongful death lawyer. On Thursday, January 4, 2017, a Vallejo auto accident left a local man with fatal injuries. The deceased was identified by officials as Mario Soto-Landa, a 23-year old resident of Vallejo.

We would like to extend our condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Landa.

Collision Details

Officers of the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) reported that a black-colored 2002 Honda Accord had been driving north along Sonoma Boulevard when the driver lost control of his vehicle and swerved into the southbound lane. After swerving into oncoming traffic, the Accord collided head-on with a silver-colored 2018 Dodge Challenger that had been driving south.

After the initial collision, both vehicles traveled to the west side of the road where they collided with two additional vehicles that had been parked on the 500 block of Sonoma Boulevard.

Injuries

VPD indicated in their report that the driver of the Accord, a 22-year-old resident of Vallejo, suffered major injuries during the accident. His passenger, a 23-year-old male Vallejo resident, sustained severe injuries as well. Medical officials reported that the passenger eventually passed away at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Challenger, also a 23-year-old male from Vallejo, was reported to have sustained minor injuries. Still, both drivers were taken by ambulance to a local hospital to receive medical screening and treatment.

The current condition of the driver of the Accord has not been reported. Additionally, none of the identities of the injured individuals have been released.

Causal Factors and Investigation

Officers of VPD reported that this accident is under investigation and added that it is currently unknown whether or not the Accord driver will be facing criminal charges related to the crash. Police have not reported what causal factors they believe to have been involved in the accident.

Individuals with information that could help the VPD better understand the circumstances of this auto accident have been asked to call Officer James Melville by dialing (707) 648-4014. Callers have been instructed to refer to the case numbered 18-149.
