Big Rig Accident Fatally Injures Turlock Man Near Tracy
I’m Ed Smith, a Turlock car accident lawyer. A chain-reaction accident occurred south of Tracy near the San Joaquin County line during the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Unfortunately, the crash caused major injuries to multiple parties and claimed the life of a Turlock man.
Our heartfelt condolences are with the loved ones of Mr. Hernandez who lost his life in this unfortunate accident.
Commuters traveling northbound along Interstate 5, in the vicinity of the Interstate 580 junction, experienced congested traffic conditions following an initial auto accident. A big rig was approaching slowed traffic ahead at approximately 4:30 am and allegedly failed to stop in time, resulting in a chain-reaction crash. The big rig reportedly struck a silver 2012 Honda Civic sedan driven by a man from Turlock, causing the vehicle to reportedly sustain serious body damage including a crushed roof. Emergency crews were called to the scene to assist with the aftermath of the frightening accident.
Nature of Injuries
Numerous victims were injured in this accident. Officials reported that two Modesto residents in a 2018 Toyota were among those who sustained serious injuries and had to be transported to the Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Three men from Patterson were also taken to area hospitals for treatment of major injuries. The driver of the Honda Civic sedan, sadly, passed away at the scene.
Identity of Victim
The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of the fatal auto accident as 32-year-old Frank Alan Hernandez of Turlock.
