Napa Collision Injures Two

Napa Collision Injures Two

I’m Ed Smith, a personal injury lawyer in Napa. On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, a head-on collision left two individuals with traumatic injuries.

Collision Information

Officers from California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident occurred just after 9 p.m. on Highway 12/121, a short drive north of Haire Lane close to the Sonoma County line. Officers reported that a Tracy Bell Redig, a 63-year-old resident of Novato had been driving her 2017 Lexus in the northbound lane of the highway when she lost control of her vehicle and drifted over the median and into the innermost southbound lane.

After drifting into the southbound lane, Redig collided with Casey Lee Quadrelli, a 30-year-old resident of Santa Rosa who had been driving on the southbound side of the highway in a 2009 Toyota. The vehicles collided head-on at a high rate of speed, causing major damages to both vehicles.

A third vehicle that had also been driving northbound became involved in the collision after the initial impact sent Redig and Quadrelli’s vehicles into its path.

Response and Injuries

After receiving news about the Napa car accident indicating that multiple individuals may have received significant injuries, CHP dispatched emergency responders to the crash scene. Upon arrival, responders discovered that both of the drivers of the vehicles that had collided head-on had sustained traumatic injuries.

Redig was found with severe injuries and was taken to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center. The hospital reported that Redig was later transferred to a different hospital for further medical care.

Quadrelli was found with moderate injuries and was also take to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment. As of Thursday, October 26, 2017, Quadrelli had been released from the hospital.

The driver of the third vehicle reportedly did not suffer any injuries.

At the scene of the collision, CHP officers arrested Redig for allegedly driving under the influence before releasing her to be cared for in the hospital. Officials believe that Redig drifted over the median due to her intoxication. Redig’s blood alcohol content was not specified.

Dangers of Driving Drunk

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an average of about 1,000 individuals lose their lives in crashes related to DUI accidents across the state of California each year. Although California drivers die in DUI accidents at a slightly lower rate than the nation-wide statistics, the problem is still widespread and deadly serious.

Driving while drunk makes motorists less capable of reacting to changing roadway conditions, often rendering them unable to avoid serious accidents that could have otherwise been prevented. Drunk drivers are also more likely to make risky maneuvers while driving, endangering the lives of everybody who uses public roads including other drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
