Fun Events in Vallejo

I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo car accident lawyer. The city of Vallejo is located right on the northeastern edge of the San Francisco Bay Area and boasts a unique, diverse community with an exciting atmosphere. Though the city is close to the Napa Valley’s wineries and the San Francisco’s museums, residents don’t have to travel to enjoy great community events. Some upcoming Vallejo events are detailed below.

Ghosts of Mare Island

Architectural photographer William Porter will be giving a lecture in the McCune Room at the John F. Kennedy library in Vallejo on Sunday, November 19, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The lecturer will discuss the role that archival photography has played in recording and preserving building sites of historical importance.

Porter will be showing many recent and historical photographs of buildings on Mare Island including photos of the recently demolished Mare Island smokestack, one of the most iconic relics of Vallejo’s naval-industrial past.

The program is free to attend and complimentary refreshments will be provided to attendees. The John F. Kennedy Library is located at 505 Santa Clara Street in Vallejo.

Vallejo Farmer’s Market

Every Saturday on Georgia Street between Sonoma and Santa Clara Streets in Vallejo, the city of Vallejo hosts a farmer’s market. The market features a wide variety of vendors offering fresh California-grown vegetables and fruits, seafood, locally made honey, nitro-brew coffee, and more. The market also includes stands from various area restaurants that prepare an eclectic mix of hot foods including Pakistani food, barbeque, shawarma cuisine, and more.

Attendees are invited to support local eateries and farmers while walking in the fresh air and listening to live performances by local and touring artists at this vibrant community event. The market begins at 9 a.m. and closes at 2 p.m.

Family Concert at The Hub

Vallejo’s downtown art collective, The Hub, will be hosting a family concert for all ages presented by the group Composing Together. The concert, entitled “My Words, My Music” is a reading of a selection of popular children’s books and poems accompanied by live performances by a live string instrument trio.

Books that will be read at the event include favorites such as “No, David,” “Where the Wild Things Are,” and “I Went Walking.” The performance will include interactive sections in which parents and children will get to decide what sort of music should accompany different aspects of the stories.

Tickets for this family events vary in price depending on income and family status. Individuals affected by the recent Napa, Sonoma, and Solano County wildfires will not be charged for entrance to the event. Additionally, no one will be turned away for inability to pay the ticket price.
