Pedestrian Killed In Vallejo Crash

I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo wrongful death lawyer. On Friday, September 29, 2017, a local man lost his life after receiving major injuries during a pedestrian collision in Vallejo.

Accident Information

The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) issued a report on the incident that indicates that the collision occurred at around 7:59 p.m. at the intersection of Lewis Brown Drive and Sonoma Street, close to the junction of Highways 37 and 29 in northwest Vallejo.

The pedestrian, a 60-year-old man whose identity has not yet been reported by authorities pending his family’s notification, had reportedly been attempting to cross Lewis Brown Drive while walking south along Sonoma Boulevard when a 1999 Chevy Camaro driving westbound on Lewis Brown Drive failed to stop for him in time. The Camaro struck the man and knocked him several feet away.

Officials noted in their report that the man appeared to have been crossing the street outside of a designated crosswalk area.

Response

After receiving news of the accident, VPD dispatched first responders to the crash site. Responding officers discovered the pedestrian lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries and immediately had him rushed to the nearest hospital for intensive medical care. However, the injured man could not be saved and lost his life in the hospital later in the night.

We would like to extend out sincere condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.

The driver of the Chevy, a 32-year-old male resident of Vallejo, reportedly did not suffer any injuries as a result of the collision and cooperated with officers at the scene of the accident.

Investigation

Officers of VPD are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident. VPD has noted that they are working to determine if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors.

VPD has asked that anybody who may have information pertinent to their investigation call the VPD Traffic Division at (707) 648-4014 and talk to Officer Jim Melville. Callers have been instructed to refer to the case numbered 17-12566.

Wrongful Death Cases

If you have lost somebody due to the negligence of others, you may be entitled to compensation for you emotional and monetary damages. However, many people suffering the loss of somebody they love find it difficult to focus on legal matters when they are going through the mourning process.

Calling an accident lawyer in the event of a wrongful death is important for two reasons. Firstly, an experienced injury lawyer will be able to prevent liable parties from covering up incriminating evidence that could affect decisions made by courts and insurance adjusters. Secondly, knowing that someone is taking care of your wrongful death case can help you to focus on the important task of healing and recovering emotionally.
