Rio Vista Community Events

I’m Ed Smith, a Rio Vista car accident lawyer. Rio Vista is a small city tucked away on the Delta of the SF Bay and, although Rio Vista is the smallest city in Solano County, it offers residents a wide array of exciting community events every month. Here are some of this month’s upcoming events that residents of Rio Vista won’t need to leave the delta for.

Free Sewing Class

On the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, free sewing classes are held at the Rio Vista branch of the Solano County Library. Attendees will be able to learn how to mend damaged garments as well as create their own original pieces from experts. Those with more experience are encouraged to share their techniques and skills with the community.

The class is for all ages, beginners and experts and begins at 12:30 p.m. at 44 South 2nd Street in Rio Vista.

Third Thursday

Every Third Thursday in Rio Vista, the downtown area is transformed into a lively local event that includes performances from area musicians and dance groups, pets on parade, special booths and sales from Rio Vista merchants, and more.

Residents and visitors alike are invited to come enjoy Rio Vista’s community fun, food, and art on Main Street beginning at 4 p.m.

Museum Days

Residents of Rio Vista can learn about the history of their city by visiting the Rio Vista Museum on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The museum, in addition to rotating special exhibits, offers visitors an in-depth perspective on the founding of the small gold-rush era city on the delta.

Additionally, the museum is run by volunteers and those who’d like to contribute to the community historical project can visit this website to learn about volunteering opportunities.

Rio Vista Farmer’s Market

The Rio Vista Farmers’ Market had its Grand Opening on May 13, 2017, and is taking place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Main Street between Front Street and the waterfront.

The market is certified by the All Bay Farmers’ Market Association and offers those who attend a chance to buy produce from an outstanding collection of vendors local to central northern California. The market also occasionally features live music and children’s entertainment from various area performers.

Storytime

Families with children aged 0-6 years old are invited to bring the kids to the library every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for a special kids’ event. Children will have the opportunity to sing songs, see finger puppet plays, have stories read to them, and develop early social interaction and reading skills.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian as the event is not a child care event.
