Crash Fatally Injures Tracy Man

Tracy Man Killed in Crash

A single-vehicle accident occurred near Ione on the afternoon of Friday, July 28, 2017. The collision, unfortunately, caused five victims to suffer traumatic injuries and one victim to suffer fatal injuries.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the families of the victims in their time of sorrow.

What Happened?

A 1999 GMC pickup carrying six teenaged passengers was traveling along Highway 124 in the vicinity of Waterman Road at about 4:25 pm. For unknown reasons, the truck veered over the double yellow line and rolled several times down an embankment before landing upright.

Was Anybody Injured?

Five of the six-vehicle occupants were recent graduates from Kimball High School in Tracy and the other occupant was identified as a resident of Manteca. Four of the five graduates and the Manteca resident suffered traumatic injuries following the accident and were transported to different hospitals for treatment.

One of the graduates, who suffered major injuries, was listed in critical condition with a spinal cord injury at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. The family members of the young man have set up a GoFundMe account to help his family raise money to cover the expenses of his medical treatment.

The other graduate, we are sad to report, passed away due to the serious nature of their injuries.

We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the victim that passed away in this devastating automobile accident. We hope and pray for a full and speedy recovery for the other injured parties.

Young Life Forever Remembered

The young Tracy man will be forever remembered by his loved ones for his happy and bubbly personality. Friends recall the man as a person that you could never be in a bad mood around. The young man always showed genuine care and concern about his loved ones by consistently taking the time to listen to their problems. People who loved him believe that he deserved a longer life and was entitled to having all his dreams come true.

Tracy Community Efforts

The city of Tracy has organized citywide efforts towards assisting the families of the injured teenagers. Caring Hearts of the Central Valley, a non-profit organization, has been collecting donations on behalf of the families of all six teenagers. Anyone who is interested in helping out the families may also drop off their donations at the Aspire Hometown Realty located at 24 West 10th Street in Tracy.
