Car Crashes Into Bank Near Ceres

I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto car accident lawyer. A car crashed into a local bank in Ceres during the afternoon of Tuesday, July 11, 2017. Even though the vehicle drove completely through the front doors of the bank, there were no reported injuries.

Accident Details

An 83-year-old man was backing his Toyota Corolla out of a parking spot in front of the Valley First Credit Union located along Mitchell Road. The man’s shoelaces were allegedly tangled with the pedals of the vehicle, causing his car to lurch forward. The Toyota struck a parked vehicle moments before driving over the curb and colliding with the front glass doors of the bank. The Toyota drove through the bank and came to a stop against a wall on the opposite side of the front doors.

Was Anybody Injured?

There were several customers and employees inside the Valley First Credit Union at the time of the accident. Thankfully, no one was injured during the crash.

What Caused the Accident?

Investigators have not yet released a cause of the car accident. Usually, Traffic Collision Reports take one to two weeks to be processed. Authorities do not suspect that alcohol or drugs played as factors in the crash.

Why Do Cars Crash Into Buildings?

Cars crashing into buildings do not only happen in movies but also in real-life. Sometimes these crashes may be caused by distracted drivers, motorists driving under the influence, or even a vehicle defect such as defective accelerator pedals or brakes. As a motorist, it is your responsibility to pay attention to the road at all times. Always share the road with bicyclists, pedestrians and other vehicles to avoid a serious collision. Contact an experienced personal injury attorney for more information.
