Roseville Crash Sends Pregnant Woman to Hospital

I’m Ed Smith, a Roseville Personal Injury Lawyer. A pregnant woman was hit in her car by another individual during a Roseville crash on the evening of Tuesday, June 20.

What Happened in this Roseville Crash?

Witnesses reported that a woman, driving a Toyota Corolla, was making illegal and dangerous maneuvers down the road close to the intersection of Cirby Way and Foothills Boulevard. She departed from the marked lanes and drove up onto the shoulder. While driving on the shoulder of the road, the owner of the Toyota started to pass other drivers on their right who were waiting at the intersection.

A pregnant woman, driving a Chrysler 300, was turning left into the intersection. While crossing through on a green light she was hit by the woman in the Corolla who had run a red light. Both women were taken to a hospital by paramedics after the arrival of emergency personnel. The intersection remained blocked for some time by police and the Roseville Fire Department while the wreckage was being cleaned up and investigated.

Roseville Police Officers interviewed witnesses of the accident to gain a better understanding of what happened. After the incident, the officers were allegedly told that the woman who caused the crash revealed to many witnesses that she had been drinking. The police are now waiting for the opportunity to test her blood alcohol level while she is being treated at the hospital to determine the truth of their testimonies.

Pregnancy and Motor Vehicle Accidents

If you, or a loved one, have been involved in a car accident while pregnant it is important to call your doctor immediately. Many complications that harm the fetus can arise from an accident even when there appears to be no injury to the mother. In minor crashes or fender benders, the stress experienced by the mother alone can cause a premature birth.

If you do suspect injury to you or the unborn fetus, go to the emergency room right away and call your obstetrician. Impacts to the abdomen area can cause the placenta to start separating from the uterine wall. This is called placental abruption. If this goes untreated then the baby’s blood and nutrient supply could drop dangerously low and emergency procedures would have to be implemented immediately. Signs and symptoms may not be observed at first, but keep an eye out for anything out of the norm for up to seven days after an accident. Notify your doctor immediately if anything feels out of place.

Drunk Driving in Roseville Crash

Impaired driving is responsible for close to a third of all traffic-related deaths in the United States. If a driver who causes an accident is found to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol, they are considered negligent. According to the law, they are responsible for all damages to every party involved. A good lawyer with years of experience in handling cases like these is important in order to receive the restitution you need to cover medical costs, emotional harm, and property damages.
