Oakdale Single Vehicle Accident

I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto personal injury lawyer. A group of locals were driving together in Oakdale during the morning of Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Unfortunately, the group was involved in a severe car accident in which they suffered traumatic injuries due to the collision.

What Happened?

A 22-year-old woman was driving her Toyota with four passengers along Sonora Road near the intersection of Orange Blossom Road at about 8:15 am. The woman’s Toyota was traveling approximately 45 to 50 mph moments before the vehicle was approaching a road curve. The woman allegedly took the curve too quickly for rainy conditions at the time, which made the road wet. This resulted in the woman’s Toyota losing control, leaving the roadway and colliding with a power pole.

What Caused the Accident?

Authorities are still investigating into the cause of the accident. Traffic Collision Reports oftentimes take two weeks to be processed. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) released a preliminary report suggesting that the Toyota was traveling at an unsafe rate of speed for roadway conditions at the time. Traffic reports can sometimes be in error or inconclusive in determining fault. It is vital to speak with an experienced personal injury lawyer who can conduct an investigation of the collision scene and analyze the accident details to assist in pinpointing cause.

Was Anybody Injured?

There was a 10-month-old baby boy, a 5-year-old girl, a 20-year-old woman and a 52-year-old woman riding in the vehicle with the 22-year-old female motorist at the time of the accident. Authorities reported that the 5-year-old suffered major injuries since she was allegedly not restrained in a child safety seat moments before the collision. The girl was transported via air ambulance to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. The 52-year-old woman also suffered major injuries and was transported to the Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. The 20-year-old woman suffered moderate injuries and the 10-month-old boy was uninjured.
