Modesto Reservoir Watercraft Accident
I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto personal injury lawyer. An Oakland teen was enjoying his trip to the Modesto Reservoir as part of an annual family tradition on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Sadly, the teen was involved in a watercraft accident which caused him to suffer fatal injuries.
A 16-year-old teen from Oakland was riding his jet ski with his 28-year-old brother. For unknown reasons, the jet ski the teen was riding and another jet ski were involved in a collision with a boat.
Was Anybody Injured?
Deputies from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a watercraft accident at about 11:50 am. When authorities arrived, they discovered three injured victims. All three victims were transported to hospitals for treatment.
The 28-year-old brother of the Oakland teen suffered traumatic injuries and was transported to the Memorial Medical Center for treatment of a punctured kidney and fractured hip. The man is expected to receive surgery soon. Sadly, the Oakland teen was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the Oakland teen that passed away in this tragic watercraft accident. We hope and pray for a full and speedy recovery for the other injured party.
