Motorcyclist Killed Lane Splitting in Tracy
I’m Ed Smith, and I’m a personal injury lawyer in Tracy. A motorcyclist was riding along Interstate 205 in Tracy during the morning hours of Tuesday, May 9, 2017. The motorcyclist was involved in a serious multi-vehicle collision which resulted in his death.
A motorcyclist was traveling westbound along Interstate 205 in the vicinity of the Mountain House Parkway off-ramp just before 7:00 am. The motorcyclist attempted to lane split between traffic and collided with another vehicle. The impact caused the motorcyclist to fall under the tire of a big rig.

Preventing Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcycle accidents are on the rise throughout the state of California. The reason being that the summer season is quickly approaching which prompts motorcyclists to ride their bikes in the nice, dry weather. When motorcyclists are traveling along the roadway, they tend to lane split mostly during the high traffic hours. Lane splitting, as defined in Assembly Bill 51, may also hold a motor vehicle driver accountable for impeding a motorcyclist from conducting a lane change. Always be sure to check your mirrors and blind spots while driving to avoid collisions with other cars and motorcycles.
