Car Crashes Into Antioch Motorcyclist
I’m Ed Smith, an Antioch personal injury attorney. A car collided with a motorcyclist in Antioch during the afternoon hours of Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist suffered injuries as a result of the collision.
Firefighters from the Contra Costa County Fire Department responded to the scene of a downed motorcyclist along Lone Tree Way in the vicinity of Blue Rock Drive at about 3:19 pm. When firefighters arrived, they discovered a man that had appeared to have been hit by a vehicle and laying in the roadway.
Police Shut Down Lone Tree Way
Officers from the Antioch Police Department immediately closed down the area for investigative purposes. The individual of the vehicle that struck the motorcyclist stayed at the accident scene and was said to have cooperated with the investigation being conducted by authorities. Unfortunately, further details regarding the condition of the injured motorcyclist was not available at the time of this writing. We extend our thoughts and prayers towards a full recovery for the injured cyclist.
Avoiding Collisions With Motorcyclists
Drivers are expected to share the roadway with motorcyclists. Motorcyclists that lane split are protected by Assembly Bill 51. This bill permits officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to cite any motorist that moves their vehicle to prevent a motorcyclist from lane splitting. It is always important to share the road and pay attention to your surroundings to prevent yourself and your loved ones from suffering traumatic injuries or death due to a car accident.
