Pittsburg Fatal Pedestrian Accidents

Pittsburg Fatal Pedestrian Accidents

I’m Ed Smith, a Pittsburg personal injury attorney. Authorities have launched two investigations into two separate fatal pedestrian accidents that both took place within a 24 hour time frame.

First Fatal Pedestrian Accident

A male pedestrian was walking eastbound on the sidewalk along Willow Pass Road.  Since he lived in the area, walking along this stretch of road was his usual routine. A woman in her vehicle was turning into the entrance of her job at 701 Willow Pass Road and she struck the man. The impact of the collision caused the man to suffer critical injuries. He was transported to the hospital where he later passed away.

Second Fatal Pedestrian Accident

A female pedestrian was walking along Stone Harbour Drive in the vicinity of Galway Drive. The woman was crossing the roadway when a truck traveling eastbound along Stone Harbour Drive crashed into her. The woman was taken to the hospital and was reported to be breathing but unconscious. Unfortunately, the woman later succumbed to her injuries.

What Caused the Fatal Pedestrian Accidents?

At this time authorities have not released an exact cause of either of the fatal pedestrian accidents. However, the time of day may have contributed to both accidents due to the lack of daylight. Both drivers remained at the scenes of the accidents and were cooperative with investigators. Alcohol was ruled out as a factor in both collisions.

Coroner Identifies Victims

The Contra Costa Coroner’s Office has released the names of both victims that suffered fatal injuries in these tragic pedestrian accidents. The first victim that was involved in the first pedestrian accident was identified as 65-year-old Berhane Araya from Pittsburg. The second victim that was involved in the second pedestrian accident was identified as 50-year-old Ma Garcia, also from Pittsburg.

We extend our condolences to the loved ones of both victims that were involved in these tragic pedestrian accidents.
