Crash Kills Olivehurst Girl
I’m Ed Smith, a Marysville-Yuba City auto accident attorney. A teenage girl was involved in an automobile collision in the Linda area on the morning of Thursday, December 8, 2016. Unfortunately, the young girl did not survive the crash due to the extent of her injuries.
A teenage girl from Olivehurst was behind the wheel of her 1999 Ford Escort driving along Feather River Boulevard near Linda at approximately 7:30 am. Due to rainy conditions, the 16-year-old girl lost control of her vehicle sliding sideways on the roadway. Sapeti P. Aiono, 65, was approaching the girl’s vehicle which had crossed over into the path of his 2007 Chevy Tahoe. Aiono ended up broadsiding the passenger side of the girl’s vehicle in the vicinity of Feather River Boulevard and Grand Avenue.
What Caused the Crash?
Officers from the California Highway Patrol determined that both of the drivers were wearing seatbelts at time of the collision. Authorities do not suspect alcohol or drugs to have played as factors in the accident. However, rainy conditions did play as a factor in this crash.
What Types of Injuries?
As a result of the collision, Aiono was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. Sadly, the 16-year-old girl from Olivehurst was pronounced deceased at the scene.
We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the young girl that passed away as a result of this tragic automobile accident.
