Minivan Collides with CHP SUV

A minivan driver was involved in a motor vehicle accident with a police SUV on the late afternoon of Monday, November 7, 2016. Thankfully, both of the drivers are expected to make a full recovery.

What Happened?

A motorist was traveling in their Honda Odyssey minivan along northbound Corral Hollow Road attempting to make a left turn onto westbound Lowell Avenue. A California Highway Patrol SUV was approaching the minivan from southbound Corral Hollow Road when the minivan driver broadsided the CHP vehicle. The minivan came to a stop in the intersection, however, the CHP cruiser did not. The impact from the minivan caused the CHP cruiser to spin and crash into a fire hydrant located on the west side of Corral Hollow Road. The fire hydrant erupted and flooded the accident scene and intersection.

What Types of Injuries?

The motorist in the minivan was transported to a hospital in Modesto to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The officer that was behind the wheel of the CHP vehicle was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and was later released.

Who Caused the Crash?

It is still too soon to determine who is at fault in this motor vehicle accident. Usually, traffic collision reports take up to two weeks to be processed and released. When the report is released it typically states who is at fault. The Tracy Police Department Traffic Unit is still investigating the crash at this time.
