Oakley DUI Driver Arrested

I’m Ed Smith, an Oakley auto accident lawyer. A motorist that was driving under the influence and crashed into two teenage girls in June of 2016 is now in custody by authorities.

What Happened?

A driver from Oakley, 50-year-old Kristina Salvitti, was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence on June 28, 2016. Salvitti was traveling along East Cypress Road in Oakley when her vehicle drifted off the roadway and crashed into two pedestrians. The pedestrians were two teenage girls that had been walking along the right shoulder of the road. One of the girls, a 15-year old, passed away at the scene. The second girl, age 16, was taken to the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital via helicopter to be treated for major injuries. Salvitti remained at the scene and was cooperating with authorities.

DUI Driver Charged

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office was presented the full case against Kristina Salvitti in late October of 2016. Salvitti was charged with felony driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. A warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest.

Authorities had difficulty locating Kristina Salvitti to make the arrest. However, US Marshals and the Oakley Police Department teamed up with one another to track Salvitti down and bring her to justice. Authorities were able to locate her in San Bernadino. The US Marshals transported her back to Conta Costa County. Salvitti was recently arraigned for charges in connection with the June 28, 2016 drunk driving collision that ended the life of one innocent teen and severely injured the life of another.

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the 15-year-old who lost her life and wish a full and complete recovery to the second girl seriouly injured in this terrible tragedy.
