Driver Kills San Pablo Man
Driver Kills San Pablo Man
I’m Ed Smith, a Brentwood auto accident attorney. Authorities are searching for a motorist that drove away after crashing into a pedestrian on the morning of Monday, November 14, 2016 in Albany. Unfortunately, the pedestrian did not survive due to the fatal extent of their injuries.
A pedestrian was walking along Interstate 580 in the westbound lanes at approximately 4:30 am. A motorist was traveling in their vehicle in the same direction when they crashed into the pedestrian. Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Is There and Identity of the Victim?
Yes. Authorities identified the pedestrian as 31-year-old Luis Barba from San Pablo. According to Sean Wilkenfeld, a California Highway Patrol Officer, no one knows at this point in the investigation why Barba was walking on the highway. Officers looked for a vehicle along the highway in the vicinity of where Barba was walking but came up with nothing.
Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Accidents
Hit-and-Run Accidents involving pedestrians have been rising dramatically in the past few years in the state of California. The extent of injuries a pedestrian can sustain from the impact of an oncoming motor vehicle can be traumatic or even fatal as was the case above. If your loved one was struck and killed by a hit and run motorist it is important to call an experienced personal injury attorney right away.
What Type of Vehicle?
The California Highway Patrol is currently searching for the hit-and-run driver and their vehicle that was involved in this accident. Reports indicate that the vehicle sustained body damage in the vicinity of the front right side. Officers are looking for a 2015 or 2016 Dodge Dart that is metallic blue in color. This potential vehicle may have been involved in the pedestrian fatality. A description of the driver has not been released at this time. Anyone that has information regarding the driver or the vehicle in question, is encouraged to contact California Highway Patrol at (510) 450-3821.
Insurance May Still Be Available in Hit and Run Accidents
If the victim or someone in his residence has uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage, that policy will typically be available to cover a loss. Call an experienced auto accident attorney for more information.
