Folsom Man Dies in Hiking Accident

A 19-year-old man fell off a cliff above Cave Valley climbing quarry at the Auburn State Recreation Area.

The young man’s mother indicated that it was an accident.  She also said she was glad he did not die alone, but was surrounded by friends.

The fall happened about 4:00 p.m. on October 25, 2015 as he tried to take his shirt off.

Her son, she was told by his friends, was laughing, having fun and singing right before he fell.

He lost his footing and balance and fell approximately 100 feet to his death.

Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.  He died on impact.  No one else was injured.
