Elk Grove Housing Help

Diane Johnson, owner of Real Estate Masters, says that her Elk Grove Real Estate firm picks a worthy local charity to support each year.

This year, the worthwhile cause they chose to support is HART, which stands for Homeless Assistance Resource Team. HART is an Elk Grove nonprofit formed in 2010 by Debbie Schoeneshoefer and Frank Lucia. Together, they are serving the homeless in Elk Grove by helping them to transition back into society and stable housing. Along with stable housing, HART provides support services and mentors as well.

With the onset of the recession, high unemployment rate, and upside-down home mortgages, even the most stable individuals can find themselves without a home.

“Our mission [at HART] is to assist those experiencing homelessness toward self-sufficiency and greater independence,” said Lucia.  HART is currently renovating two houses in Elk Grove for future residents.  The funds raised will help with these and future projects.

HART credits Sacramento Self Help Housing for assisting them in serving individuals who suddenly find themselves homeless. The agencies are working with Elk Grove Food Bank and the City of Elk Grove to help folks help themselves transition back into society.

Real Estate Masters, in previous years, supported HART by doing a sleeping bag and coat drive. This year, they decided to build and paint a very impressive and adorable playhouse. Real Estate Masters has been selling raffle tickets for $10 each for a chance to win the playhouse.

The playhouse will be raffled off to one lucky winner at this year’s Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin and Harvest Festival.  This quaint playhouse is big enough for an adult to stand inside.  You may have noticed it at local events around Elk Grove.  Real Estate Master’s Facebook page has a picture of the playhouse as it toured the Western Festival!

Ms. Johnson of Real Estate Masters explained, “I thought it was a cute little house to help those without houses.”
